Grape Up created a real-time data streaming platform for a car rental company, utilizing telemetric data from connected vehicles to lower costs, optimize processes, increase recovery rates, and enhance customer experiences.
One of the largest global car rental companies was exploring ways to utilize the telemetric data available in connected vehicles to increase revenue and provide customers with a unique experience. After conducting a Proof of Concept and initial analysis, we focused on reducing costs through car localization monitoring, theft prevention, and improving the accuracy of fuel readings, among other use cases.
The dedicated application and telemetry-based platform were created to automate processes and facilitate day-to-day fleet management.
Grape Up designed and implemented a real-time data streaming platform. It normalizes the data before making it available for consumers through the application, allowing the Fleet Management team to leverage connected car telematics capabilities.
We have been responsible for the whole product lifecycle, from Proof of Concept to production software and maintenance. To build the solution, we chose a modern approach leveraging cloud computing and big data, avoiding the use of legacy code. However, we ensured seamless integration with existing client systems to create a unified platform, and we use AI-based algorithms to monitor processed data.
We acted as a partner to the client, creating and developing the product from the beginning.

We normalized and standardized collected data to facilitate the management of fleets in various locations and provided by different OEMs.
At the request of the client, we provided support with data migration to different regions, e.g. EU and APAC, which is now one of the key elements of the project.
The platform exists to consume vehicle data and provide authenticated remote access to vehicles. It normalizes the data before making it available for consumers through the application.
Our solution improved the accuracy of readings related to fuel or battery levels, allowing for more accurate billing.
Vehicle management, problem diagnosis, and maintenance processes have improved significantly, reducing the time of making the car available for rent.
