EU Data Act Connected Vehicle Portal

With the EU Data Act set to take effect in 2025, the company faced the urgent need to establish a secure and compliant method for sharing connected vehicle data.

Recognizing that regulatory readiness would be key to maintaining market leadership, the company prioritized early action to minimize legal risk and operational disruption.

They required a robust, flexible platform capable of adapting to evolving legal interpretations, supporting both B2C and B2B scenarios, and enabling long-term monetization of vehicle data.

Approach

To align legal, technical, and strategic priorities, Grape Up organized and led intensive workshops with the company’s multidisciplinary teams, including legal and IT stakeholders.

These sessions laid the foundation for a detailed roadmap and system architecture, culminating in the design of a fully customized web platform deployed on AWS.

The platform was engineered with modular capabilities such as B2B and B2C portals, dynamic consent and ownership management, and comprehensive administrative tools to support ongoing compliance.

Outcome

The platform is now being co-developed by Grape Up and the customer team, following the jointly approved roadmap and legal specifications defined during the initial workshops.

The Japanese team is actively contributing to the integration of connected vehicle data sources, ensuring end-to-end security, consistency, and functionality.

The solution not only satisfies current EU Data Act requirements but also provides a scalable foundation for future regulatory updates and business innovation in data services.
